1. Introduction

OK, here it comes...

Based on the results of the article "What attributes are improved by each training session", I have been trying to find the perfect training schedule, one that will improve all attributes concurrently. After many experiments, I have ended up with the conclusion that training perfection is elusive in such a sophisticated game like CM4, but perhaps we can get quite close to it.

So the task was simple conceptually: Find a training schedule that improves all improveable attributes, even if it only improves them just a little bit. This means that of course there are other training schedules that increase specific attributes more than this one does, but maybe they are not as general or don't cover as many attributes to this extend. Or if you have a better one, just let me know!

What I claim:
-This training schedule is probably good for all top teams. It has only been tested on Panathinaikos (Greece) and ManUtd, but I wouldn't expect much different results for other good teams, as long as good enough coaches are assigned to the schedule.
- I cannot say for sure that this is the best schedule around, but certainly it is a good one. As you can see in the results below, some attributes increase a lot, and some increase a bit less. In my opinion, the fact that this schedule seems to have a positive effect on all attributes makes it a good starting point for everybody's team. What I mean is that you can adjust its effects by substituting a defensive session by a "shooting" session in order to increase the shooting attribute even more or you can substitute an Overloading_Attacking by an Overloading_Defensive if you want to use this schedule on a Central Defender. Or maybe substitute some sessions with Rest if you 're managing a low-division team and your players don't like to train a lot.

What I don't claim:
- I am not saying that you are going to be seeing green arrows all the time. In fact, I couldn't care less about the arrows. I test my schedules by monitoring the increase in the attributes of the players, and that's the only method that makes sense to me this far.
- I am not claiming that this schedule will work for all teams for sure. As I said, it has only been tested on Panathinaikos and ManU. It won't work very well without the right coaches either, but hey, if your coaches are not good then you probably cannot do much better than this anyway.

2. The schedule

The training schedule I am suggesting here assumes that the league games are played on Sunday. If your team plays most of the matches on some other day, then you will have to tweek the schedule accordingly. For best results you need to assign at least one fitness- and one technique-based coach. That makes them at least two. Also you are going to need to assign some physios to the schedule, one at least.

So, the training schedule I 'm suggesting is:

Sunday Rest, Rest, Rest
Monday Pig, Technique, Closing Down
Tuesday Sprints, Overloading(A), Crosses
Wednesday Technique, Shadow Play, 5_a_side_large
Thursday Pig, Set Pieces(A), Weights
Friday Pig, Set Pieces(D), 5_a_side_small
Saturday Pig, Overloading(A), Overloading(D)

Training on match day: NO
Training the day after a match: NO

Notes:

- While the increases were widely distributed among players, the decreases were mainly focused on Henriksen and Saric. They are both kind of old. Also I think that Saric didn't like the fact that he spent his time as a substitute, while he is supposed to be a first teamer.

- These experiments were run a lot of times, and the results were always kind of similar. Only on some other experiments the physical attributes did somewhat better (on the same experiments some technical attributes did not improve as much).

- With respect to the article "What attributes are improved by each training session", only Seitaridis was not used. I purposely did this, as he is known to improve a lot in his first season in CM4, sometimes regardless of training. Note that most of the times he was not taken into account in the forementioned article either (for the same reason).

- Experimental Results 2 were taken from the same experiment as Results 1. This can give you an idea of how attributes progress with time during the season.

- I have tried to slightly tweek the shedule in order to get better results for the physical attributes, and I have found that this is possible by changing a Pig In the Middle into a Closing Down. But then most of the technical attributes increase less, except for marking and tackling that do better.

- This schedule can be adjusted for some defenders by making the change of the previous note. Also one of the Overloading(A) can be changed to Overloading(D) for them. This will also improve the positioning results/

- While playing a real game, the results for the physical attributes can be further improved by use of a clever rotation system for the players, so that nobody ends up playing all matches (and in April Olisadebe was feeling jaded), and nobody plays zero matches (I think that Saric was really pissed for not playing, which explains his bad attitute towards my training).

- For Attackers, the shooting attributes can be improved further by changing a defensive session (e.g. Shadow Play) to Shooting every two weeks.

Additional 1:
I had initially missed out two of the players' names that participated in the experiments.

Just as a check, I also ran an experiment using ManUtd this time. Because of the fact that the english league has a lot of matches on Saturday instead of Sunday, I made some adjustments to it. So in the training schedule for ManU I added the Saturday schedule to Sunday, so that both days of the weekend have
Pig, Overloading(A), Overloading(D).

Experimental results 3:

I used this schedule for Manchester United from 20/8/2002 to 6/1/2003 on Holiday mode. The 9 players that were monitored were
Silvestre, Ferdinand, G. Neville, Beckham, Giggs, Veron, Keane, Van Nistelroy, Forlan.

The results were:

Crossing
05 players improved (08 points total), 00 players became worse (00 points total)
Dribbling
06 players improved (08 points total), 00 players became worse (00 points total)
Finishing
06 players improved (07 points total), 00 players became worse (00 points total)

Notes

- The better results in the defensive attributes here are probably due to the fact that ManUtd had 3 cautious-minded and 1 sitting-back coaches on the schedule. There was also an adventurous and an attacking coach assigned to the schedule, and three physios too.

- Unfortunately all the assigned coaches were technique based, ManU didn't have any fitness-based in my game. Had there been fitness-based coaches assigned, the results for the physical attributes could have been better.

- As you can see, the ManUtd experiment also supports my claims.

Let me know if anybody has comments, questions or ideas for improvements on the schedule!

Yeah you should rotate the regimes according to your schedules. Thrassos lives in USA and he will be back in a couple of hours. You are going to get the excact feedback you need by then.

P.S A tip. Do not trust the arrows. They do not work quite properly.

See ya! ::wink:

Yes, you should change the schedule, because the schedule is designed for teams that have league matches on Sunday.

When you play on Saturday, use this program instead:

Sunday Pig, Technique, Closing Down
Monday Sprints, Overl(A), Crosses
Tuesday Pig, Set Pieces (D), 5_small
Wednesday Technique, Shadow Play, 5_large
Thursday Pig, Set Pieces (A), Weights
Friday Pig, Overl(A) or Shooting, Overl(D)
Saturday Rest, Rest, Rest

As you can see, this is the same schedule as above, but some of the daily schedules have moved to different days.

Even so, not all players are going to have green arrows. This is not very important. What is very important, is that all players are going to have at least 3 stars (unless they are injured), which means that they either stay as they are or improve.

Practically, they will all improve until they can improve no more, and then they will stay like that.

Johan,

The schedule you should use is

Sunday Technique, Shadow Play, 5_a_side_large
Monday Pig, Set Pieces(A), Weights
Tuesday Pig, Set Pieces(D), 5_a_side_small
Wednesday Pig, Overloading(D), Shooting
Thursday Rest, Rest, Rest
Friday Pig, Technique, Closing Down
Saturday Sprints, Overloading(A), Crosses

Tranining on match day/ on the day after the match=NO

Note that with EP5 I am suggesting Shooting instead of Overloading (A) on Saturday (which in your case goes to Wednesday, as above).

PS. New article and schedule arriving soon. Stay tuned!
